How does non-surgical nose correction work?
Non-surgical rhinoplasty uses dermal fillers to help reshape the nose or camouflage common issues. Fillers are a gel-like substance that we inject under the skin to add volume. Most fillers are created using hyaluronic acid, which is a substance naturally found in the body.
This means that non-surgical nose correction is a temporary solution because the body dissolves the filler over time, with results lasting approximately 6 to 12 months. However, repeat treatments can prolong your results, creating the opportunity to adjust the appearance of your nose if desired.
Where is the filler injected for nose correction?
For non-surgical nose correction in NYC, the most common area we place filler injections is the radix, located above the nasal hump and below the forehead. We use filler to smooth the area around the hump and make it less noticeable.
Additionally, filler can be applied below the hump and above the tip to enhance its appearance and create an upward tilt. We can also inject filler at the base of the nose to help lift the tip. For some patients, Botox is used to relax the depressor septi nasi muscle, which also assists in elevating the tip.
Should You Consider Non-Surgical vs Surgical Rhinoplasty?
This depends on your personal goals. Non-surgical rhinoplasty might be right for you if you’re looking to add volume or enhance the tip of your nose. However, if you’re looking for permanent and dramatic changes to the shape of your nose, you are better suited for a surgical rhinoplasty procedure. Also, non-surgical rhinoplasty in patients who had previous surgery have a higher incidence of complications.
