Smooth Solutions: How Our Surgeons Target Cellulite at the Source

Billions of people struggle with cellulite, and while it primarily affects women after puberty, it can develop in people of all ages. Cellulite isn’t physically harmful, but we recognize that it can harm your confidence.

You deserve to feel empowered in your own skin, not to feel forced into declining a beach trip because of anxieties about wearing a swimsuit.

At Pearlman Aesthetic Surgery, we empower beauty®, and that starts by empowering you. Here’s why you should consider Avéli as a cellulite treatment in NYC.

Meet Avéli™: An FDA-Approved Cellulite Treatment

Avéli is the first and only FDA-approved device that identifies and releases the septa—the fibrous bands responsible for dimples—making it effective for moderate-to-severe-cellulite. Cellulite occurs when the septa bands pull down and fat cells push up against the skin, and the only way to truly address cellulite is to release these tethers. At Pearlman Aesthetic Surgery, we offer this cost-effective, non-surgical solution to deliver the maximum results with minimal recovery.

Do you offer laser cellulite treatments?

No. While we do offer a variety of laser technologies for skin renewal, vaginal rejuvenation, and laser hair removal, we do not offer lasers for cellulite treatment in NYC.

Lasers can penetrate your skin’s outermost layer (the epidermis) and middle layer (the dermis), making it effective for concerns that occur near the surface. However, they cannot reach subcutaneous tissue (the hypodermis) where the fibrous bands responsible for cellulite live. Furthermore, they cannot “trim” these bands, making them ineffective for treating cellulite.

What to Expect From an Avéli Cellulite Treatment

In NYC, there are a lot of medical spas that offer their own versions of cellulite treatment, but they aren’t all equal. When you come to Pearlman Aesthetic Surgery, you unlock unparalleled expertise and guidance from plastic surgeons with a track record of success.

Every practice’s approach is different, but here, we pursue excellence in every avenue—from your experience to your satisfaction.

Here’s a closer look at what you can expect when you come to Pearlman Aesthetic Surgery for an Avéli cellulite treatment.

Consultation

Before any procedure, we take the time to meet with you privately and discuss your situation. During your consultation for an Avéli cellulite treatment in NYC, you’ll meet with Dr. Brian Bassiri-Tehrani to assess your concerns and goals.

Then, we’ll determine if you’re an ideal candidate for Avéli. While most individuals are candidates for this minimally invasive procedure, you may not be a candidate if you have:

  • A BMI (body mass index) greater than 35
  • A large cluster of cellulite in a single area (such as the back of the thigh)
  • Localized fat in the “banana roll” area beneath the buttocks
  • Severe skin laxity

If Dr. Bassiri-Tehrani determines that Avéli is your best option, we’ll curate your personalized treatment plan, helping you set realistic expectations for your results, and schedule your procedure. While the exact price of your treatment depends on the area(s) you wish to treat, a full treatment plan typically ranges from $4,000 to $8,000.

Complementary Procedures

We recognize that your aesthetic goals are completely unique, and we’re dedicated to empowering you to achieve all of them. During your consultation, we’ll discuss your aesthetic goals beyond cellulite, so we can determine if additional treatments—surgical or non-surgical—can take your investment and results further.

Morpheus RF Microneedling

For example, we may recommend pairing RF (radiofrequency) microneedling with Avéli to build collagen and smooth cellulite simultaneously. Microneedling is a procedure that uses tiny needles to create “micro-injuries” on your skin’s surface, which triggers your body’s natural healing process to boost collagen production.

RF microneedling takes your body’s innate healing capabilities further, delivering waves of RF energy through the needles to increase the collagen-stimulating effects without causing additional damage to the skin. Collagen proteins make up your skin’s internal framework, but as your body produces less collagen with age, that framework weakens and causes your skin to wrinkle and sag.

Our doctors may recommend RF microneedling for individuals seeking natural skin rejuvenation on the face and/or body. When paired with Avéli to treat cellulite, RF microneedling can improve your skin’s texture, tone, and elasticity—from the inside out—to enhance smoothness.

Fat Grafting

We may also recommend pairing a fat grafting procedure with your Avéli cellulite treatment in NYC, as this fat acts similarly to a dermal filler for restoring facial volume, only permanently. Fat grafting consists of removing fat from one area via liposuction and, after purifying it, injecting it into another.

Once these fat cells integrate with your existing tissues in that new area, they look, feel, and act as if they were always there. Fat grafting in New York City completely eliminates the risks associated with implants, offering natural, low-maintenance results. However, it’s important to understand that not all of the injected fat may “take,” so your results may become less dramatic as you heal. If you desire more of a noticeable transformation, we may recommend multiple rounds of fat transfer.

While we snip the cords that tether cellulite dimples down during an Avéli procedure—allowing your skin to rise back up—some individuals’ skin may need more help returning to its original, smooth texture. A fat graft procedure fans a small amount of fat into those areas to “fill” indentations.

This approach does not dramatically change your physique like a BBL (Brazilian butt lift). However, you can pair Avéli with a BBL. Typically, we recommend undergoing the Avéli procedure before BBL surgery, but we can perform these procedures simultaneously depending on your goals.

The Avéli Procedure

When you arrive for your Avéli cellulite treatment in NYC, we’ll help you check in and lead you back to a private operating room. Here, your surgeon will explain the procedure process and answer any questions you have to ensure you feel confident and comfortable—physically and emotionally.

Preparation: Cleansing and Numbing

Then, we’ll cleanse the skin on the area you wish to treat and mark specific points to align with your custom treatment plan. The amount and severity of dimpling inform our approach, as Dr. Bassiri-Tehrani strategically maps out the septa responsible for your cellulite so we can effectively release them—and only them.

While septa are responsible for cellulite, they also play a critical role in supporting tissue. So, if a surgeon cuts all of the septa at the crease of your buttocks where it meets your leg, the area may lose its shape and begin to sag. The same applies to the outer thighs, as removing too much of that internal structure can cause “hip dips” or indentations on the sides of the buttocks.

After answering your questions about the procedure and marking your skin, your surgeon will insert a combination of numbing fluid and saline into the treatment area using a small cannula. These fluids not only numb the area for your comfort, but also help loosen the tissue to enhance the procedure’s efficiency.

The Avéli Treatment

Next, Dr. Bassiri-Tehrani inserts the Avéli device, which resembles the small cannula used for liposuction, into the marked points. He creates the smallest possible incisions, between 2 and 3mm, at the insertion points—just enough to accommodate the device.

Using the Avéli system, he then locates and snips the striae holding down the skin, repeating this process for every spot you wish to treat while the Targeted Verifiable Subcision (TVS) technology offers real-time confirmation. This process typically takes 1 to 2 hours, but your procedure may take more or less time depending on the location and severity of your cellulite.

Before you leave the operating room, we’ll send you home with post-care guidelines to ensure you have the tools to care for your skin as you recover.

Recovery and Results

After your Avéli cellulite treatment in NYC, you may experience minor drainage, swelling, warmth, and bruising at the incision points. This is a natural part of the healing process and typically resolves within 2 weeks—or a month, at most—but we may suggest arnica topical gels or pills, bromelain supplements, or lymphatic massages to expedite this process.

Swelling and bruising may take about 30 days to completely resolve, so it’s important to wear a compression garment that extends from the groin to the toes and avoid NSAIDs like ibuprofen. If you experience any side effects as the local anesthesia wears off, we recommend using Tylenol. Keep your legs elevated and wear the compression garment as much as possible during the first week to minimize swelling.

Most patients comfortably return to their routine within 1 to 2 days of treatment, noticing results within 7 days. Once the incisions heal, you’ll be left with smooth skin for up to 4 years.

Stop Hiding and Start Living

You deserve to trust the hands performing your cellulite treatment in NYC, and meaningful transformations are an art just as much as they are a science. Beyond his proven medical expertise, Dr. Brian Bassiri-Tehrani‘s passion for helping patients step into the best version of themselves sets him apart.

Everyone’s idea of beauty is unique, and we honor that rather than settling for a standardized approach to any procedure. Our personalized techniques require more than precision, skill, and a mastery of anatomy; they require truly getting to know you.
